A magnificent effort by Ross Westbrook (JR/Texarkana, AR) hoisted CBC Mustangs to an 11-2 win in seven innings over Williams Baptist College on Friday at Walnut Ridge, AR. Westbrook blasted two home runs, went 2-3 in the game with three RBIs and three runs scored. Ross homered in the third and fifth innings.
The CBC Mustangs beat Williams Baptist College thanks to 11 hits, including three extra base hits. The Mustangs scored three runs in the fourth, on an error, a walk by Seth McLemore (JR/Pulaski, TN), and a walk by Ryan Johnson (JR/Sherwood, AR). Caulin Cragle (JR/Houston, TX) picked up the win with four solid innings of work. Gunner Allen (SO/Maumelle, AR) pitched strong in relief . Allen held Williams Baptist College hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one.
Dylan Disotell took the loss for Williams Baptist College. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed five runs.
CBC never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring three runs on a three-run double by Sam Buczek.
The Mustangs scored two runs in the third inning, and then followed it up with two more in the fifth. In the third, CBC scored on a solo home run by Westbrook.
