It was a tight game until St. Mary's University scored six late runs for the 14-4 victory over CBC on Friday at San Antonio, TX.
Sam Buczek racked up four RBIs on one hit for CBC Mustangs. He homered in the fourth inning.
Kris Gardner got the win for St. Mary's University. He allowed four runs over five innings. Gardner struck out five, walked one and gave up four hits.
St. Mary's University easily handled CBC Mustangs pitching as seven hitters combined for 15 hits, eight RBIs and 11 runs scored.
Aaron Kincaid took the loss. He allowed seven runs in two innings, walked four.
St. Mary's University tallied two runs in each of the second, third and fifth. In the second, St. Mary's University scored on a single by Gardner.
After pushing across four runs in the top of the fourth, CBC Mustangs faced just a 5-4 deficit. A home run by Buczek sparked a Mustangs' rally. But, Gardner got Scott Gracey to fly out to end the inning.
The Rattlers increased its lead with two runs in the fifth. A ground out scored Jacob Marler to start the scoring in the inning. That was followed up by Al Gonzalez's double, plating Matt Smith.
