The Mustangs began their inaugural season in NCAA Divsion I by grabbing a school-record 56 rebounds in a 73-61 victory over Williams Baptist.
The game was also a comeback for redshirt senior Daron Hall after tearing his Achille’ tendon back last December. The Mustangs started off with a 9-0 run to open up the game behind a pair of baskets by senior Will Johnson and a 3-pointer by junior Tommy Williams.
CBC used their depth to wear down Williams in the first half by increasing their lead to 24 points with 5:45 remaining. They led 47-28 at the half. Williams started the second half with a 6-0 run. Hall then hit a pair of layups to increase the Mustangs lead back to 17.
Williams led the Mustangs with 25 points, connecting on 6-of-11 3-point attempts. SHall finished with 11 points and had a team-high seven assists. Johnson finished with 10 points. Senior Michael Holder added six points and nine rebounds.
