KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The Central Baptist College Mustangs were downed by the Truman State University Bulldogs in a dual meet, 42-24. CBC won three of the contested matches, while the Bulldogs won two. The Mustangs had five open spots in the lineup for the difference.
Senior Peter Acuna , ranked 14th in the nation, won his match over John Murray (TF 16-1 5:31). Senior Matthew McKenna won at the 149lb level by decision. Freshman Matt Jones came up big in the 184lb division, defeating Luke Kotomos (15-2).
"We stepped into this dual knowing we would be giving up 24 points because we lack the bodies in particular weight classes",said Head Coach Ken Prophete. "The guys wrestled tough and did not let that phase them. They proved their physical dominance by winning the majority of the matches we placed wrestlers in."
Coach Prohete further remarked on his senior Peter Acuna, "Peter is a tremendous athlete and is relatively young to the sport only starting in his senior year of high school. He is a hard worker and a great learner, each week he is doing what it takes to be the best of the best. I look forward to seeing Peter cross the finish line in post season competition."
