CONWAY, AR- The Conway Christian School's Jump Rope Team performed at half-time to a packed A.R. Redding Fieldhouse but it was not enough as the Williams Baptist College (WBC) Eagles won over CBC here on Thursday night.
In the Women's game, WBC defeated the Lady Mustangs, 73-50. CBC played strong in the first half, only trailing at the half 29-22. The Lady Mustangs came out in the third period and won the battle, closing the gap to 44-43 on a big night by Rachel Eitherington. Eitherington finished with 18 for the game. The Lady Eagles wore down CBC in the fourth period for the final score.
In the Men's contest, WBC used hot shooting by Tevin Howard (25 pts) and EJ Rucker (18 pts) to power past the Mustangs, 80-72. The first half saw the Eagles lead as many as 16 points with the Mustangs chipping away to go in down by 11.
A three-point basket by James Brown to open the second half cut the WBC lead to eight and gave CBC life. More Howard-Rucker created a 23-point lead at the 14-minute mark, but CBC began driving inside and picking up fouls to reach the free throw line. With three minutes left the Mustangs had come to with five as the Eagles made free throws down the stretch to create the final score.
