CONWAY, AR – The Central Baptist College Mustangs won two more on Saturday over Missouri Valley College to start the season at 7-0. This is the best start since recorded statistics have been kept.
In the first game, Jalin Lawson drove in three runs, helping the Mustangs to a 6-2 victory over the Vikings. Aaron Kincaid pitched six innings and allowed two earned runs, four hits and two walks while striking out five.
Missouri Valley College jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Jeremy Shull kicked things off for the Vikings with a single. Cody Price singled, plating Jake Stafford and Bryce Burdette.
The Mustangs went up for good in the fifth, scoring two runs on two singles by Joshua Buczek and Austin Kuchinski. CBC built its lead with three runs in the sixth. A bases loaded walk scored Santez Richardson. That was followed by a double from Lawson that scored Joshua Buczek and Deonta Howard.
In the final game of the four game series, CBC defeated MVC 9-2. The Mustangs scored four runs in the fifth on an RBI double by Nash Nichols, a two-run double by Santez Richardson and a fielder's choice.
The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to five lead changes in the game. A hit by pitch scored Joshua Buczek in the third that gave the Mustangs the lead for good. Jalin Lawson had two RBIs on one hit, homering in the first.
Monterio May got the win allowing two runs over seven innings. May struck out two, walked two and gave up two hits.
