Conway, Ark.- (Log Cabin Democrat) - Central Baptist College's baseball team ran its record to 18-1 Tuesday night with a 6-1 victory over NCAA Division III Hendrix at Warrior Field.
Santez Richardson was 3 for 4 for the Mustangs with an RBI and a double in CBC's 12-hit attack. Jalin Lawson was 2 for 5 with a double and two runs scored. Conway's Nash Nichols was 2 for 4. Seth McLemore was 2 for 4 and had two RBIs. Deonta Howard added a triple.
The Warriors used six pitches and scored their run on a bases-loaded walk in the eighth.
In running its record to 17-1, CBC swept a four-game series of the weekend with fellow NAIA member Texas College at Tyler, Texas.
In the first game of a doubleheader Friday, Lawson had three hits, including a home run and a double in a 6-2 victory. Brian Moreno allowed two hits over five innings.
In the nightcap, Kale Fultz pitched a shutout to carry the Mustangs to a 9-0 victory. The Mustangs had 14 hits, three of them for extra bases that included a triple by Nichols.
Saturday, Cole Johnson got a save in a 5-4 victory.
In the second game of the doubleheader, CBC scored nine runs in the third on the way to a 12-5 win. CBC scored in the third on an RBI single by Santez Richardson, a two-run double by Nichols, a three-run home run by Austin Kuchinski, a passed ball, a steal of home by Deonta Howard, and an RBI single by Lawson. Nichols added three RBI on three hits. Monterio May got the win. He allowed three runs over four innings. May struck out two, walked none and gave up seven hits.
The Mustangs open conference play this weekend against Freed-Hardeman University at Henderson, Tenn.
