Conway, Ark. – The Central Baptist College Mustangs dropped their mid-week doubleheader to Texas A&M University – Texarkana Eagles at Victory Field 8-4, 7-5.
Jacob Cobb-Adams recorded the win for Texas A&M University-Texarkana. He allowed two runs over five innings. Cobb-Adams struck out six, walked three and gave up one hit.
The Eagles (27-16) never surrendered the lead after the fourth inning, scoring four runs on two doubles.
One run in the bottom of the fifth helped the Mustangs close its deficit to 6-2. A groundout by Deonta Howard triggered CBC's comeback. Texas A&M University-Texarkana stopped the rally after Cobb-Adams got Seth McLemore to strike out.
A two-run sixth inning helped bring CBC within three. An RBI double by Austin Kuchinski and a sac groundout by Ryan Johnson gave Mustangs life. Thomas ended the inning by getting Josh Buczek to fly out.
The second game was tight until the Eagles took the lead for good in the sixth inning.
Deonta Howard had two extra-base hits for the Mustangs. He homered in the third inning and doubled in the fifth inning.
The bottom of the third saw CBC take an early lead, 2-0. A solo home run by Josh Buczek started the inning off. The Mustangs pushed more runs across when scored on a solo home run by Howard.
Texas A&M University-Texarkana brought home two runs in the fifth inning, and matched that run total in the sixth. In the fifth, the Eagles scored on an RBI single by Cole Beckham, plating Kolton Perfect.
The lead stayed with Texas A&M University-Texarkana after the sixth, when it scored two runs on a solo home run by Cade Thomason.
Along with Howard's effort, Joshua Buczek went 1-3 with an RBI.
NEXT UP: April 23rd at home in a Friday/Saturday conference series with William Woods University. Friday's game is slated for 6:00 pm with Saturday's doubleheader starting at noon.
