Montgomery, AL. – Keiser University took a page from the books of the Central Baptist College Mustangs as their pitchers kept CBC away and their offense exploded in the elimination game of the Montgomery Bracket for the Avista-NAIA Baseball World Series. The Seahawks had 19 hits in route to the 20-7 win this afternoon.
The Mustangs' Seth McLemore (SR/Pulaski, TN) had two home runs with five RBIs but that was not enough as KU's Damian Boyum recorded the win in four innings of work. He allowed two runs, struck out one, walked one and gave up only four hits.
Keiser University stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the first, scoring three runs on a two-run double by Casey Mullennix and a sacrifice fly by Tyler Goff. The Seahawks pushed across three runs in both the second inning and the sixth. In the second, Keiser scored on a passed ball, scoring Tyler Hitt. They added seven more runs in the bottom of the third. Andrew Danner kicked things off with a single, bringing home Daniel Arroyo.
Two runs in the top of the sixth helped the Mustangs close its deficit to 15-4. A sacrifice fly by McLemore and a groundout by Jalin Lawson (JR/Troy, AL) sparked the Mustangs' rally. CBC scored two runs in the top of the eighth to cut its deficit to 12. A two-run home run by McLemore gave Mustangs life.
