Conway, Ark.- CBC held off a feisty Ecclesia College in the home opener 87-82 at A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse. The Mustangs led by as much as 15 in the second half but a 53.8% 3-point percentage in the second half kept Ecclesia in the game.
The Royals' Austin Burroughs opened the scoring with a three point shot but Central Baptist came right back on scores and offensive rebounds by the team leader Fred Albright. The Mustangs would lead 47-33 at the half.
A 15-point lead by the Mustangs would vanish by the nine-minute mark as EC's Burroughs made another 3-pointer to tie the game at 69-69. Next a shot by Chris White gave the Royals their first lead since early in the first half.
A Mike Evans rebound off the Royals' Aaron Bolt miss would give the ball to CBC with under two minutes to play and trailing 82-81. EC's Chris White fouled Marcelious Green to send him to the line. Green made one to tie the game at 82-82. Made free throws would create the final margin for CBC as they move to 1-1 for the year.
