Batesville, Ark. – Central Baptist (15-7, 10-6 AMC), hoping to move to third place in the American Midwest was tripped up by the Lyon College Scots at Becknell Gymnasium tonight, 58-55.
DJ Reed had a big night for the Mustangs with 17 points to lead all scorers. Reed added a team high eight rebounds.
The first half was fairly even with CBC leading at the half 27-24. Reed had seven of his 17. Lyon College (12-12, 7-9) tied the game at 32, four minutes into the second half on a jumper by Tyler Robinson. The half would see five ties with last with 3:20 to play. Free throws made the difference down the stretch for the final margin.
The Mustangs' Jayln McBride (SR/Jonesboro, AR) would have eight points for CBC. Mike Evans (SR/North Little Rock, AR) and Teshawn Sims (SR/Conway, AR) would each add six. Nick Jones (FR/Little Rock, AR) scored seven and had three steals.
