Walnut Ridge, Ark. – The CBC Lady Mustangs defeated Williams Baptist College at Southerland Mabee Center in American Midwest Conference action Tuesday night. With the 70-50 win, the Lady Mustangs matched last year's conference mark with three games to go.
Audrey Moran (JR/Viliona, AR) led all scorers with 23 adding five assists and a steal. Aaliyah Block (SR/Monticello, AR) had a double-double scoring 12 with 11 rebounds. Block added three blocks, a steal and three assists for Central Baptist.
CBC came out strong moving to a first quarter six-point lead on a Moran three-point basket, 11-5. WBC chipped away after a couple missed CBC shots to tie the game at 15 with two minutes left in the quarter. Two three-pointers by Moran and one by Karlie Senko (FR/Bradford, AR) would end the threat and the quarter, 24-17.
Eighteen points would be all that both teams scored in the second period, with CBC winning that battle 10-8 to take a 34-25 lead to the half.
Central Baptist would continue to open up the lead in the second half with as much as a 23-point difference.
Morgan Fimpel (JR/Maumelle, AR) would have nine points on the night. Emily Gardner (FR/Melbourne, AR) and Senko would have eight a piece. Emily Ridgell (FR/Bryant, AR) added six, two assists and a steal.
NEXT UP: The Mustangs travel to Hannibal-LaGrange on February 18th with the game starting at 1:00 P.M.
