Conway, Ark. - The CBC Mustangs are hosting a Friday-Saturday non-conference series with Martin Methodist at Victory Field. Friday's doubleheader was won by the Red Hawks, 6-5, 2-0.
With the game tied at two, Martin Methodist had a three-run fourth inning due to a couple of CBC miscues and timely hitting by Jackson Pruitt. The Red Hawks and Mustangs traded runs in the fifth. Central Baptist mounted a comeback in the sixth that fell short. Jalin Lawson (SR/Troy, AL) and Santez Richardson (SR/Donalsonville, GA) both singled and scored on a double by Nash Nichols (JR/Conway, AR). Josh Hibbard (SR/Munford, TN) grounded into a double play to end the inning.
GAME ONE (6-5) by the numbers:
- Nash Nichols went 2-3, 3 RBI
- Jalin Lawson went 1-3, 1R
- Santez Richardson went 1-2, 1R
- Collin Nord (SR/Aberdeen, WA) (0-3) took the loss giving up six runs in five innings with two strikeouts, three walks with four errors.
Both teams were strong on the mound in the second game, but Martin Methodist College was just a little bit stronger at the plate in the victory. Caulin Cragle (SR/Houston, TX) started the game for Mustangs and recorded 15 outs in five innings. Ben Hargrove went the distance for the Red Hawks allowing three hits, no runs, three walks and he struck out 13.
GAME TWO (2-0) by the numbers:
- Jalin Lawson went 2-3
- Josh Hibbard went 1-3
- Caulin Cragle had two runs on one hit, five strikeouts, two walks.
