Conway, Ark. - The weather changed the location of the doubleheader between the Central Baptist Lady Mustangs and (RV)Oklahoma Wesleyan but the Eagles swept the day 8-0, 7-5. Severe weather moved the games to The Fieldhouse Sports Center from CBC's home at City of Colleges Park.
OKWU used ten hits and six CBC errors to run rule the Lady Mustangs in five innings in the first contest.
The Lady Mustangs got hits from Rachel Lawson (FR/Kokomo, IN) and Kaylee St John but were held down by the Eagles' Ashleigh Capps who struck out seven, walked two and allowed the two hits.
In the second game, OKWU lead by just a 3-1 margin before a three run fifth put distance between the squads. Both teams notched scores in the sixth and the Eagles seemed in control.
The Lady Mustangs rallied in the seventh scoring three runs to close the gap as Kinley Burrows (FR/Jacksonville, AR) reached base on a missed catch, Whitney Wade (SR/Vilonia, AR) doubled to score Burrows. Rachel Lawson singled to bring home Cali Lankford (SO/Perryville, AR) and Whitney Wade. The threat was shut down when Kaylee St. John (SO/Conway, AR) got caught off base and Rachel Jones struck out to end the game.
Rachel Lawson went six innings giving up seven runs on 11 hits with four walks and three strikeouts.
UP NEXT: The Lady Mustangs travel to Morthland College for a doubleheader on March 9th. This will be followed by a week long road trip with doubleheaders against Harris-Stowe State Univ(10th), Missouri Baptist Univ (11th), Freed-Hardeman Univ(13th) and Cumberland Univ(14th).
The Lady Mustangs will return home for a conference doubleheader with Hannibal-LaGrange Univ. on March 17th.
