Henderson, Tenn. - The Lady Mustangs traveled to Freed-Hardeman University for American Midwest Conference action on Monday. The doubleheader was a reschedule from two weeks ago when icy weather plagued Missouri. The Lady Lions won both games with a score of 3-2.
In the opening game, it was not until the fifth inning that either team scored. CBC notched two runs on wild pitches by the Lady Lion's Makenzie Prince after a Raquel Westerman (SR/Galveston, TX) walk and a Rachel Jones single got runners in position for CBC.
FHU answered in the bottom of the sixth to tie it up 2-2. No scores in the seventh sent us to the eighth where CBC was held scoreless after Alyssa Estrada (FR/Houston, TX) reached on a walk and was moved around by a Hunter Clark (JR/Sheridan, AR) sacrifice bunt. Estrada was out stretching third after a Kaylee St. John (SO/Conway, AR) single to end the inning. A Lady Lion homer by Caitlyn Carter gave FHU the win.
In the second game, the Lady Mustangs scored two in the first inning on a Kaylee St. John homer over the center field fence. CBC was held scoreless the rest of the game as FHU pitchers Mallory Spurlock and Hannah Wright on allowed three more hits in the game.
FHU scored in the fourth to tie it up on a Kayln Graham double after two singles got Annaka Baxter and Mallory Spurlock on base. They were able to score one in the fifth to provide the victory margin.
Madison Skelton (JR/Praire Grove, AR) got the lose only giving up six hits and striking out four. Allison Skelton (JR/Praire Grove, AR) went 2-2 at the plate and St. john and Caley Perry (SR/Searcy, AR) got hits on the day.
UP NEXT: The Lady Mustangs travel to Park University on March 24th for a doubleheader starting at 2:00 pm. The 25th they will play at William Woods in a doubleheader starting at 1:00 pm.
