Conway, Ark. – The Central Baptist Mustangs took a break from AMC play to host NCAA Division 2 Henderson State University at Victory Field on Wednesday afternoon. The Mustangs could not keep up as HSU won, 22-5.
Henderson State held CBC to eight hits, while the Reddies had 19 hits on the day. The Reddies led 7-0 before CBC got on the board in the third inning as Santez Richardson (SR/Donalsonville, GA) doubled to left-center field to score Jalin Lawson (SR/Troy, AL) and Monterio May (SR/Helican, AL). Richardson then scored on a L'Donta Howard (SO/Foreman, AR) hit.
The Reddies exploded with eight runs in the fifth on four hits, a couple of walks and an errant throw by the Mustangs. HSU's Alan Hall went 3-5, 4R, 2 RBI and Jordan Taylor went 3-5, 3R, 4 RBIs. Zach Eschberger picked up the win in five innings. He allowed five runs on seven hits, 3 walks and nine strikeouts.
CBC used six pitchers with starter Dylan Crossley (SO/Little Rock, AR) charged with the loss allowing seven runs on six hits in 2.2 innings of work.
