Conway, Ark. – Texas A&M – Texarkana returned a trip to take on CBC in non-conference action on Tuesday night. Much like the Mustangs earlier trip to Texarkana, this contest was a back and forth battle. The game lasted nearly five hours and went to 11 innings before the Eagles won 7-6.
TAMUT opened the scoring in the first with a home run and the Mustangs answered on a Monterio May score from an Austin Kuchinski single. CBC would score three in the third inning to make it 4-1 before the Eagles would have a four-run fourth to take the lead. Again the Mustangs would answer as this time May drives in Jalin Lawson to tie it up 5-5.
CBC would score in the seventh, the Eagles in the eighth to take it to extra innings. In the top of the eleventh inning TAMUT would score to take the 7-6 lead. The Mustangs would get a hit from Monterio May and then one from Santez Richardson to put two on base. Connor Tatum would pinch run for Richardson. With Austin Kuchinski up, the Mustangs had the winning run on first in Tatum. Kuchinski lined out to the shortstop, then May was tagged out on second and in a rare play, the ball was fired to first as Tatum was retreating to the bag for a called third out.
There were a total of 25 hits in the game, 10 for the Eagles and 15 for the Mustangs. Fourteen pitchers were used between the squads. Jason Jones was credited for the win for the Eagles. Ben Madison was charged with the loss for the Mustangs.
