Conway, Ark. – After Friday's hard fought win over Freed- Hardeman University, Central Baptist knew that they were in for a dogfight in the Saturday doubleheader. CBC (22-22, 9-13AMC) and the Lions are fighting for a spot in the American Midwest Conference Tournament. The Lions (26-17, 11-12) with wins of 9-5, 12-6 got the edge for one of the final positions as the regular season winds down.
CBC posted a three run lead before the Lions got on the board in the fourth. The Mustangs answered as Jalin Lawson (SR/Troy, AL) scored on a Monterio May (SR/Helican, AL) single to make it 4-1. Freed-Hardeman would reel off eight runs to the Mustangs one for the victory. Ben Madison (SO/Benton, AR) started and pitched 4.75 innings allowing four runs on four hits, walking four and striking out four. Jose Delmar (JR/Maracaibo, Venezuela) was charged with the loss in one inning of work. Delmar allowed two runs on one hit, walking two.
Game one (5-9) by the Numbers:
The Mustangs outhit Freed-Hardeman by one, 15-to 14 but could not overcome the opening five runs that the Lions tagged. Chase Young had a three-run homer for Freed-Hardeman. CBC did notch three runs in the second that started with hits by Santez Richardson (SR/Donalsonville, GA), Cody Duffey (FR/Corinth, TX) and a double by Austin Kuchinski (SO/Powder Springs, GA).

UP NEXT: CBC will host Park University for an AMC series. The Friday doubleheader is slated to begin at 3:00 pm. The Saturday single game will begin at noon.
