Special from the AMC:
ST. LOUIS – The American Midwest Conference (AMC) has announced its baseball Player of the Week awards for the week ending April 23, 2017, with this week's awards going to representatives from Missouri Baptist University and Central Baptist College. Missouri Baptist's Drew Kitson was tabbed as the AMC Player of the Week, and Caulin Cragle (SR/Houston, TX) of Central Baptist took home Pitcher of the Week honors.
Cragle, a 5-1 senior from Houston, Texas, capped off the weekend sweep for the Mustangs over Park University by tossing a 3-hit shutout on Saturday afternoon. He held the Pirates in check all day, walking two and striking out six as Central Baptist went from being a half-game behind the Pirates for the final AMC Championship berth to holding a two-and-a-half game lead for that spot in a little less than 36 hours.
Other Notable Performances:
Jalin Lawson (SR/Troy, AL) – Central Baptist
Lawson helped the Mustangs to a critical AMC weekend sweep of Park University as the Mustangs climbed into the driver's seat for the final spot in the AMC Championship. Lawson hit .615 (8-for-13) in the weekend set, with two doubles, a homer, three RBIs and four runs scored.
