BROUSSARD, La. - Future Central Baptist Mustang golfer Colton Ryan recently broke a record in winning the 2017 Mizuno Louisiana Governor's Games United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) tournament over the July 4th weekend. Ryan's score of 138, which was six-under-par, won him the Boy's 15-18 championship.
The previous record was held by Ryan Desormeaux, who shot a one-under-par back in 2013.
Ryan's score won the tournament by three strokes over Michael Travasos, whose score would have also been good enough to break the previous record. The tournament was hosted by the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and chaired by Rudy Macklin.
Ryan, who will begin his freshman year at CBC this fall, has two more tournaments before the USSSA National Championship in August. The first is the Mizuno USSSA Battle at the Lake in Lake Charles, La., this coming weekend and the second tuneup is the Mizuno USSSA Cajun Classic, a regional tournament in Lafayette, La., held the following weekend.
