Oklahoma City, Okla. (Sept. 5, 2017) – In the first fall tournament of the men's golf season, the Central Baptist College Mustangs set in fifth place out of 15 teams competing, with a score of 301 (+13), seven shots off the lead of Kansas Wesleyan and Bellevue (+6). Dylan Smith (FR/Melbourne, Ark.) sits tied for second individually at one-under-par, shooting an opening round 71 to trail the leader by four shots.
CBC also has a 'B' team competing in the tournament, and that team sits in a tie for 11th after an opening round 318 (+30)
Smith is in the clubhouse as one of only three individuals to shot under par on the day. He is tied with Juan Gomez of Bellevue (Neb.) and trails only Kansas Wesleyan's Ben Hadden, who shot an opening round 67 (-5).
Colton Ryan (FR/Benton, La.) also sits inside the top-10, as he is tied for ninth after shooting an opening round 74 (+2). Edward Millian is a shot behind Ryan, having shot a 75 (+3) and is tied for 17th.
The men's golf team will play in the second and final round of the Southwestern Christian Invitational tomorrow at the North Course at Lake Hefner Golf Club.
