Parkville, Mo. (Sept. 16, 2017) – Central Baptist College women's soccer carried some momentum into their American Midwest Conference opener against Park this afternoon after scoring in the second half of Tuesday night's game against Hendrix College. The Mustangs (0-7, 0-1 AMC) continued their growing process, allowing six first half goals in a 6-0 defeat against the Pirates (4-2, 2-0 AMC).
"Organizationally and structurally, the ladies have matured over the last two games," said head coach Chris Murphy. "I'm very excited about this positive development. Also, for the second game in a row, they maintained a clean sheet and did not concede a goal in the second half which, again, is a very exciting and positive trend. Moving forward, this is something we feel we can do more consistently."
Sara Calzada (FR/Arlington, Texas) made 20 saves for the second time this season, the first of which was the season opener against Ouachita Baptist. The Mustangs stay in state for their next match as they travel to Walnut Ridge on Tuesday, Sept. 19, for a battle with AMC foe Williams Baptist. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m.
