Walnut Ridge, Ark. (Sept. 19, 2017) – Having shutout their last two opponents in the second half, including their American Midwest Conference opener against Park, the Central Baptist College women's soccer team took the pitch against Williams Baptist in their second AMC match. The Eagles (2-4, 1-1 AMC) were able to score one goal in each half and the Mustangs (0-8, 0-2 AMC) were unable to respond, dropping the contest 2-0.
"Tough loss because it was a game we felt we could win," said head coach Chris Murphy. "Definitely an improvement because we held a low goals against average. Probably the most difficult loss so far."
Sara Calzada (FR/Arlington, Texas) was great in goal again, making nine saves and getting help from her defensive teammates, who were able to stop an additional three shots. Next up for the Mustangs is their home AMC opener on Saturday against William Woods. Kickoff for that match is set for 5 p.m.
