Covington, Tenn. (Sept. 26, 2017) – Entering the second round 11 shots behind first round leader Freed-Hardeman, Central Baptist College men's golf sought improvement on day two. A second consecutive 300 was good enough to help the Mustangs finish in second place as a team for the second tournament in a row, 20 shots behind team champion and host Freed-Hardeman.
CBC also had a 'B' team that competed and finished 13th in the 14 team field with a score of 651. Individually, Dylan Smith (FR/Melbourne, Ark.) earned All-Tournament Team honors after he finished tied for fourth with a two round score of 147 (+3), eight shots behind the overall winner, Easton Lavelle of Freed-Hardeman. Colton Ryan (FR/Benton, La.) finished in the top-10, posting a score of 149 (+5), good for a tie for eighth.
Leyton Clark (SO/Armorel, Ark.) was the next highest finishing Mustangs, finishing with a 9-over par score of 153. Taylor Morton (SO/Lafayette, La.) (+11, 155) and Edward Millian (+12, 156) were fourth and fifth for CBC. Matt Brown (FR/North Little Rock, Ark.), Matt Davis (SR/Malvern, Ark.), Jake Walker (FR/Lafayette, La.), Grayson McEowen (SO/Conway, Ark.) and Marc Davis (SR/Malvern, Ark.) all finished further down the leaderboard as well.
The final non-championship tournament of the fall season for the Mustangs is up next, as CBC travels to the Hot Springs Country Club for the three round Henderson State Fall Invitational beginning on Sunday.
