Fayetteville, Ark. (Sept. 30, 2017) – After taking last weekend off, Central Baptist Mustang cross country returned to the course today at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas. The men ran a 10K, while the women ran their standard 5K.
In the women's race, Macy Burroughs (SR/Vilonia, Ark.) was once again the top finisher, posting her best 5K time of the year (21:49.0). Hopi Horvat (JR/Newark, Ill.) was also able to post her best time of the season, finishing the course in 25:05.3. Averi Ratliff (SO/Vilonia, Ark.), Alyssia Marbley, Shelby Cuthbertson (JR/Pine Bluff, Ark.) and Melody Siebenmann also competed for the Mustangs in the race.
For the men, the competition was their longest of the season and the only 10K they will run all year. Sean Baskin (SR/Magnolia, Ark.) was the top finisher again, posting a time of 44:22.5, followed by T.J. Tapley (48:07.9), Dalton Ponder (FR/Maumelle, Ark.) (49:58.1), Timothy Turner (SR/Mayflower, Ark.) (50:51.3) and Jian Bender (FR/Vilonia, Ark.) (51:13.3).
Next up for the cross country teams is the Ozarks Invitational in Clarksville on Oct. 7. The races will begin that morning at 9:30 a.m.
