St. Louis, Mo. (Oct. 2, 2017) – Finally being recognized for her outstanding work in goal this season for the Central Baptist College women's soccer team, Sara Calzada (FR/Arlington, Texas) was named American Midwest Conference defensive player of the week. This is Calzada's first recognition of the season.
"The kid's a beast. Great attitude/training ethic and can flat out play," said head coach Chris Murphy.
Calzada currently leads the AMC in saves (134) and is second in all of the NAIA in that category. She registered the first shutout of her career on Sept. 30 against Stephens College, in when the Mustangs fought to a draw with the Stars and currently holds a shutout streak of 161 consecutive minutes.
