Clarksville, Ark. (Oct. 7, 2017) – Competing for the second weekend in a row, the Central Baptist College cross country team ran at the Ozarks Invitational this morning in Clarksville. Both teams placed sixth overall, with eight teams competing in the women's event and six teams running in the men's event.
Macy Burroughs (SR/Vilonia, Ark.) and Gloria Bell (SR/Mountain Home, Ark.) were the top two finishers again for the Mustangs, with Burroughs, who finished 19th, posting a time of 22:28 and Bell, who finished 24th, running a 23:08. Hopi Horvat (JR/Newark, Ill.), who set a personal best at last week's meet, broke 25 minutes for the first time this season, finishing in 39th overall with a time of 24:52 with Allysia Marbley (FR/Sherwood, Ark.) not far behind her at 25:03 and Shelby Cuthbertson was next with a time of 28:53. Melody Siebenmann (FR/Corinth, Texas) posted her best time in just her second meet, posting a 29:38 while Alexandria Hillman (FR/Vilonia, Ark.) ran a 36:57 in her season debut.
T.J. Tapley was the top finisher in the men's race running a 38:53. The rest of the men's competitors were Demond White (JR/Chicago, Ill.) (39:16), Timothy Turner (SR/Mayflower, Ark.) (40:45), Jian Bender (FR/Vilonia, Ark.) (42:05) and Dalton Ponder (FR/Maumelle, Ark.) (44:06).
Next up for the cross country teams is their final regular season meet when they run at the Little Rock Invitational next Saturday, Oct. 14.
