Russellville, Ark. (Oct. 10, 2017) – Staying in-state for a tri-match, the Central Baptist College volleyball team played Arkansas Tech and Lyon today at Tech's gymnasium. Tech (21-0), the #16 ranked team in all of the National Collegiate Athletic Association at the Division II level, took the first match from the Mustangs (8-11), 3-0 (13-25, 11-25, 11-25) and Lyon (13-11) swept the second match 3-0 (12-25, 20-25, 19-25).
Emily Harp (FR/Harrison, Ark.) had eight kills, Hope Johnson (SO/Rogers, Ark.) and Madelyn Black (FR/Hattiesburg, Miss.) notched seven assists while Johnson and Lenee Gibson (SR/Webb City, Mo.) both tracked down five digs in the match against Tech. Sarah Clemmons (FR/Bryant, Ark.) led the way with nine kills, Johnson posted 15 assists and Gibson had 19 digs in the Lyon match.
CBC gets a couple of days off before returning to the court on Thursday, Oct. 12 in Oklahoma City. The Mustangs will face the host school Mid-America Christian, whom they have already defeated this year and Randall University. The tri-match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
