Mustangs Split With Eagles

            Walnut Ridge, Ark. – Opening their final American Midwest Conference series of the season this afternoon, Central Baptist College baseball was at Shell Field to take on the Williams Baptist Eagles in a doubleheader. CBC (26-21, 22-12 AMC) split the doubleheader against WBU (22-21, 13-17 AMC) taking game one 6-1 before dropping game two 2-0.

GAME ONE – CBC 6, WBU 1

            WBU got a run in the first and the Mustangs trailed 1-0 until the top of the fifth. In the fifth, Ryan Dauphinee tied the game with a single to chase home Chett McDaniel before Aaron Prince gave CBC the lead with a sac fly to make it 2-1. Back-to-back runs would score on wild pitches and the Mustangs led 4-1 after five. Chett McDaniel scored Julian Rodriguez in the sixth to make the score 5-1 before George Astacio singled home Carter Harris to round out the scoring. Ryan Meyer got the win, throwing five innings and allowing just three hits and two walks with a run and a strikeout. Dylan Parton finished the game, allowing two hits and striking out four.

GAME TWO – WBU 2, CBC 0

            The only runs scored were on a home run in the fifth inning. Garrett Fitts had a pair of doubles while Chett McDaniel also had two hits and George Astacio had a hit as well.

UP NEXT

            The Mustangs and Eagles wrap up their series with the final two games of the doubleheader tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
