CBC Posts Pair of Victories in Women's Basketball and Baseball

            Marshall & Nevada, Mo., and Alexandria & Sterlington, La. – Central Baptist College softball, women's basketball, wrestling and baseball were all in action today. Here's a recap of what happened in a busy day for CBC:

SOFTBALL

            Softball was defeated twice today on the final day of the Generals Showdown in Alexandria. CBC lost 5-1 to #13 LSU-Alexandria in the opener before dropping the second contest of the day 6-0 to Texas A&M-Victoria. Taviah Bradley and Adrianne Benedict both had multi-hit games in game one while Kinley Johnson and Eden East both had multi-hit games in the finale. CBC heads to Tennessee next Friday for a doubleheader against Bethel.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

            The Lady Mustangs won their fourth straight American Midwest Conference contest this afternoon 71-62 over Cottey at Hinkhouse Gym. CBC improved to 10-11 on the season and 7-6 in the AMC, led by a 19-point, 10-rebound double-double from Raigan Head, her fourth straight game with a double-double. Four other Lady Mustangs, Riley Whittington (12), Lexi Duck (12), Aliya Grotjohn (11) and Addison Hudspeth (10) as CBC knocked off Cottey for the second time in history, aided by a plus-10 rebounding margin (34-24). CBC will look to even up their record this season when they host Crowley's Ridge on Thursday for Senior Night.

WRESTLING

            The CBC wrestling team was on the mat today at the Missouri Valley Open in Marshall, Mo. Bradyen Holley was the only Mustang to post a win as he took an 11-4 decision in the first consolation round. This was the final tournament of the regular season for CBC before the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament on Feb. 21 in Fort Worth, Texas.

BASEBALL

            The Mustangs split today at the Cajun Collision. CBC defeated Texas A&M-Texarkana in the first game 6-5 before falling in the second game 8-2 to #19 Mid-America Christian. In the win, Dylan Parton threw a complete game and gave up no earned runs as he was aided by RBIs from George Astacio, Brayden Mayencourt, Ryan Dauphinee, Aaron Prince and Jaxon Kirkhuff. The Mustangs host the Arkansas Baptist Buffaloes in their home opening doubleheader on Tuesday at Burns Park at noon.
