Springdale, Ark. – Playing a true road game for the first time this season, Central Baptist College baseball was at Shiloh Christian Field this afternoon to open a three-game series with the Royals of Ecclesia. CBC (3-3) had 10 hits and scored nine combined runs in the final two innings, beating EC (4-6) 11-1.

Andrew Killough got the start and dominated, earning the win. CBC pounded three home runs, two from Wille Baez and one from Ty Decker.

GAME FLOW

CBC scored quickly, plating a run in the first on an error by the catcher. Decker's first career home run extended the lead to 2-0 in the second and the Royals cut the lead in half with a run in the bottom half. From there, both starters locked down, and neither team scored again until the sixth, when CBC scored four times to extend the lead to 6-1. Logan Easterling walked to lead off the inning and was brought home on Baez's first home run of the afternoon. Following a Ruben Hernandez single, a ground out and an intentional walk to Decker, Austin Teal doubled home a run to make it 5-1 and pinch hitter Graham Dykes made it 6-1 with a sac fly on the very next pitch. CBC would plate five in the seventh thanks to Baez's second home run of the game, an RBI single from Teal, a bases loaded walk to Luke McBride and a two-run single by Steven Stewart. Killough went the first six, scattering seven hits and allowing one run with three walks and six strikeouts. Fernando Escapita threw the seventh, allowing two hits and nothing else.

CBC and Ecclesia will wrap up the three game series tomorrow with a doubleheader at the Tyson Complex. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. and you can find coverage online tomorrow!
