Columbia, Mo. – Opening their final regular season American Midwest Conference series tonight, Central Baptist College baseball took on the Cougars of Columbia College at Battle High School. CBC (24-26, 9-11 AMC) was swept by Columbia (35-9, 17-5 AMC) by scores of 9-3 and 11-0.

Jay French made history again tonight, despite going 0-4 in game one. French reached via hit in each of his first two at bats in game two and broke the career hits record, now at 223, surpassing Austin Kuchinski's old record of 222.

GAME ONE – COLUMBIA 9, CBC 3 (SEVEN INNINGS)

The Mustangs scored first in game one on a two-run dinger by Ruben Hernandez to make it 2-0, his eighth of the season. Columbia would then score nine unanswered with six in the first, one in the second, one in the fourth and one in the fifth to lead 9-2 after five. Benito Martinez would bring in the final tally for the Mustangs with an RBI double in the seventh. Garon Johnson was given the loss after going three innings and allowing seven runs on six hits with four strikeouts. Jackson Lindsey relieved Johnson and gave up two runs on two hits in two innings with a pair of Ks and a walk while Caleb Sollars threw a perfect inning of relief, striking out two in the process.

French, Steven Stewart and Danilo Taborda were the only players to get a hit for CBC after Columbia scored eight in the first, one in the third and two in the fifth to put the game away early. Andrew Killough went three innings and struck out a season-high eight while allowing 10 hits and nine runs (six earned). Austin LeJeune walked two but struck out the side in his lone inning of work.
