French Leads Seven on AMC All-Conference Teams

Jay French was named the AMC Player of the Year and was selected to the first team for the second time. He led the conference in runs scored, hits, stolen bases, batting average and on base percentage and was also second in doubles, tied for sixth in triples, tied for sixth in home runs, second in bases on balls, and second in slugging percentage. He is the first Mustang ever to earn player of the year in baseball and the second this season to earn POTY honors in any sport (Kelvin Robinson, men's basketball).
Logan Easterling earned Freshman of the Year and second team honors. He led the conference in home runs and was the co-leader in RBIs with 14 and 51, respectively, and he did so while playing 47 games behind the plate. He was also outstanding defensively, finishing second in the conference in putouts while throwing out 23 percent of attempted base stealers.
Austin Teal also earned first team honors. He batted .370 this season with a .606 slugging percentage and eight home runs, 34 RBIs and 15 steals playing both left field and third base during the season.
Ruben Hernandez earned first team honors at designated hitter. Ruben was the Freshman of the Year in 2021 and also earned second team honors. This season, he paced the conference in bases on balls with 36 and also clubbed eight home runs, finishing fourth in the league in on base percentage.
Garon Johnson was selected as a second-team pitcher. He was the co-leader in games started and finished in a tie for sixth in wins, third in innings pitched, fourth in strikeouts and tied for second in complete games.
Wille Baez earned second team honors for the second year in a row. He was one of only five players in the entire conference to finish in double digits in home runs while driving in 41 runs this season.
Slayton Holland earned the pitcher's gold glove this season, the Mustangs' lone recipient. Holland was perfect in 12 chances this season.
The Mustangs play the Trojans of Hannibal-LaGrange University in the opening game of the AMC Tournament this morning!
