Hot Springs, Ark. – After taking the first two games of their four-game American Midwest Conference series at Majestic Park, Central Baptist College baseball looked to finish the four-game sweep of the UHSP Eutectics today. CBC (6-8, 4-0 AMC) finished the job, winning on a walk-off error in game one before closing the sweep out with a five-run win in game two.
GAME THREE – CBC 4, UHSP 3
CBC got on the board in the first inning when Garrett Fitts was balked home by the UHSP starter to make it 1-0. The Mustangs took a 2-0 lead in the third when a wild pitch scored Carter Harris. UHSP would take a brief lead in the sixth on a three-run home run before CBC tied it in the bottom half on an RBI double by George Astacio. The game would come to a wild end in the seventh when Fitts stole second, moved the third on an error by the catcher and scored on an error by the centerfielder to give CBC their second walk-off win of the season. Hunter Belton pitched six solid innings to start the game, allowing just three hits and three runs while striking out seven. Jaxon Kirkhuff got the win in relief, allowing just one hit in an otherwise uneventful seventh inning.
GAME FOUR – CBC 7, UHSP 2
No one scored until the fourth inning of the final game. The first two runs of the game crossed the plate on a single by Fitts to make it 2-0. In the sixth, the Mustangs pushed five runs across the plate courtesy of a Devin Miller double, a two-run single by Brayden Mayencourt, a wild pitch that scored Fitts and a single by Cameron Harden. UHSP's only runs came in the final inning. Dylan Parton earned the win, going four innings and allowing only one hit with two walks while striking out three. Ryan Meyer picked up his first save of the season, pitching the final three innings and allowing two runs on three hits with four Ks to bring CBC's pitchers to a total of 36 strikeouts in the series.
