#MustangsWin! CBC Advances Past William Woods In AMC Tournament Opener!

O'Fallon, Mo. – Opening play in the American Midwest Conference Championship this afternoon, the #4 seed Central Baptist College baseball team took on the #5 seed William Woods Owls at CarShield Field. CBC (28-22) scored early and got great pitching to down WWU (28-21) 7-2.
Garrett Fitts, Ryan Dauphinee, Brayden Mayencourt, Chett McDaniel, Josh Lumsden, Jaxon Kirkhuff and Julian Rodriguez all had hits for CBC while both McDaniel and Kirkhuff had two RBIs each and Lumsden and George Astacio both drove in single runs. Ryan Meyer and Hunter Belton took the hill for CBC, with Meyer throwing seven innings of eight-hit, one-run ball with a walk and four Ks for his eighth win of the season. Belton threw the final two innings, allowing one run on one hit with a walk and a strikeout.
GAME SUMMARY
CBC jumped on WWU quickly, scoring twice in the bottom of the first to take a 2-0 lead. Astacio got the scoring started with an RBI fielder's choice and McDaniel followed with another fielder's choice. The Owls cut the lead in half in the third and the score stayed 2-1 until the sixth when Jaxon Kirkhuff drove in McDaniel with a single, then scored later on following a stolen base. Leading 4-1 in the seventh, CBC brought in their final three runs thanks to a single by McDaniel, a single by Lumsden and a sac fly by Kirkhuff. WWU scored the final run in the ninth.

The Mustangs will face the top-seeded Spartans of Missouri Baptist tomorrow in the first tournament game for the Spartans. First pitch is scheduled for 10 a.m.
