Baseball Season Ends In AMC Tournament

            O'Fallon, Mo. – With weather wreaking havoc on the American Midwest Conference Baseball Tournament, Central Baptist College had to wait to find out who their opponents were for today at CarShield Field. CBC (29-24) beat William Woods (29-22) 13-6 to eliminate the Owls before seeing their season end against Mission (34-18) 5-4.

GAME ONE – CBC 13, WILLIAM WOODS 6

            WWU took the lead in the first, 1-0, before an error by the Owls tied the game 1-1. Julian Rodriguez started a four-run second inning with a sac fly to make it 2-1 followed by a double by Ryan Dauphinee made it 3-1 before a two-run error made it 5-1. CBC scored four in the third on a home run by Jaxon Kirkhuff, his fifth of the season, a wild pitch, and back-to-back singles by Dauphinee and Brayden Mayencourt made it 9-1. WWU scored twice in the fourth and CBC got the lead back to eight (11-3) on a two-run double by Aaron Prince. The Mustangs scored their final two runs in the fifth on a sac fly by Garrett Fitts and a double by Jaxon Kirkhuff. Gram Middleton got the win, throwing eight innings while allowing three walks and striking out seven. Rhett James threw the ninth, allowing a run on two hits with a walk and a strikeout.

GAME TWO – MISSION 5, CBC 4

            CBC's first three runs came in the second inning via a solo home run by Kirkhuff, his sixth and a two-run shot by Julian Rodriguez, his first to make it 3-0 in the second. A sac fly by Mayencourt in the fifth made it 4-0 before Mission scored one in the seventh, two in the eighth and a walk-off two-run home run to end CBC's season in their 53rd game for the third straight season.
