#MustangsWin! #13 CBC Stays Unbeaten in AMC Play With Win At Harris-Stowe

St. Louis, Mo. – Playing on the road for the final time in the 2024 calendar year, #13 Central Baptist College men's basketball took on the Harris-Stowe State Hornets in an American Midwest Conference game inside the Emerson Performance Center. #13 CBC (11-2, 5-0 AMC) led 44-42 at halftime before exploding for 53 second half points in a 97-81 win over HSSU (4-9, 1-4 AMC).
Sage Borbon led the way in scoring for the Mustangs, putting up 32 points, including 22 in the second half. It was his second 30-plus point game this season. Wade Williams also finished in double figures with 15 while Jonas Carlisle added 14, Brian Alexander had 11 off the bench and Gabe Johnson chipped in with 10. Carlisle was the rebounding leader with nine and Johnson handed out seven assists. The offense was strong for the Mustangs all game as they outshot HSSU 56 percent to 44 percent from the field and outrebounded the Hornets 43-31.

The two teams traded the first 10 points of the contest before, with 17:32 left in the first half, HSSU began an 8-0 run to put the Mustangs down 13-5 with 15:44 left in the half. The Mustangs followed that with a 10-2 run to tie the game at 15 with 12:05 left in the half. The score would remain tied or with CBC behind until Borbon made two of three from the line with 6:22 left to make it 30-28. CBC would never trail again, scoring the first five points of the second half to lead by seven and never letting off the gas the rest of the game.

#13 CBC wraps up the 2024 calendar year on Tuesday night when they welcome #3 Freed-Hardeman, the reigning NAIA National Champions, into Reddin Fieldhouse. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and CBC will be looking to avenge a 91-89 double-overtime loss to the Lions on Nov. 14 in Tennessee.
