#MustangsWin! CBC Races Past Eutectics In Second Half!

Conway, Ark. – Hosting an American Midwest Conference rival for the second time this season, Central Baptist College men's basketball took on the UHSP Eutectics at A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse. CBC (5-8, 2-0 AMC) trailed by four at halftime but locked down defensively in the second half to beat UHSP (3-9, 0-1 AMC) 71-58.
Dalton Alexander III led four Mustangs in double figures scoring with a career-high 22 points, which included five threes. Caleb Knight also hit double digits with 14, while MacArthur Reed, Jr., added 12 (all in the second half) and Tyler Johnson finished with 11. CBC outshot UHSP 54 percent to 26 percent in the second half and forced 28 turnovers which they converted into 27 points.
GAME FLOW
The first half of the first half was close as the score was tied at 15 with 10:05 until the break. UHSP then went on a 13-2 run over the next 4:18 to put CBC down by their largest margin, 28-17, with 5:42 until halftime. However, the Mustangs closed the half on a 12-5 run and trailed 33-29 going into the locker room.
Over the first 5:07 of the second half, the Mustangs were able to narrow the gap to a bucket until a layup by Alexander with 14:53 to go put CBC up for the first time, 39-38. UHSP would retake the lead with 12:52 to play before Alexander canned a three 14 seconds later to put CBC up 42-40. The Mustangs would led the rest of the way, gapping UHSP by as many as 14 before the score settled to its final margin.
MUSTANG NOTES
- CBC is now 23-1 all-time against UHSP and has won eight in a row and all 12 games played at Reddin
- CBC won for the first time this season when trailing at halftime
- The Mustangs won the points in the paint battle 34-16
