Mustang Win Streak Stopped at Two

Springfield, Mo. (Sept. 6, 2019) – Riding a two-match winning streak into tonight's contest, Central Baptist College men's soccer took the pitch at Coryell Field against Evangel. CBC (3-2) had a 2-1 lead in the first half, went to halftime tied at two and ultimately dropped the contest to the Crusaders (1-3), 4-2.
Jhorman Cruz (SO/Bryant, Ark.) netted a goal and Nyasha Dube (JR/Hwange, Zimbabwe) also scored. Andrew Montoya (SO/Rogers, Ark.) allowed a season high in goals, but was otherwise good in net.
MUSTANG NOTES
- Cruz scored on a PK in the 20th minute for the first goal of his career
- Dube's goal came in the 28th minute and was his first of the season
- Montoya made seven saves
- CBC took 11 shots with seven on target
CRUSADER NOTES
- An own goal in the 12th minute gave Evangel an early lead
- Nick Wagner tied the match in the 29th minute
- Joseph Voi scored twice within two minutes in the second half to seal the win
- Josiah Dinwiddie and Anthony Morales combined to make five saves

The Mustangs now get 11 days off before their American Midwest Conference opener in Walnut Ridge against Williams Baptist.
