Erik Holth, CBC Sports Information Director

Fayetteville, Ark. – Running for the first time in 15 days, Central Baptist College cross country was on the course today at Agri Park for the 2024 Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival, hosted by the University of Arkansas. CBC had Chris Palmer compete in the Men's Prairie Fire event while Lindsey Risner and Bay Davis both competed in the Women's Prairie Fire event.

Palmer would make history in the men's 8K, becoming the first Mustang ever to break 30 minutes, crossing the finish line in a time of 29:20.2, beating the previous school record, set by Keegan Conway at the 2019 Lois Davis Invitational, by 41 seconds. Risner and Davis both competed in the 5K distance for the women, with Risner recording a time of 28:19 and Davis recording a 29:45.4.

The Mustang Cross Country teams are back on the course on Oct. 12 when they will run in the University of the Ozarks Invitational in Clarksville.
