McKenzie, Tenn. – Playing at the Kahlden Complex for the second time this season, Central Baptist College softball took on the Bethel Wildcats this afternoon. CBC (11-13) swept the doubleheader from Bethel (8-12), winning both games 4-3.

GAME ONE – CBC 4, BETHEL 3

The Wildcats grabbed the lead early, scoring single runs in both the first and third innings for a 2-0 lead after three. An error in each of the fourth and fifth innings tied the game at two before Bethel took a 3-2 lead in the sixth. Casi Saunders, who came off the bench earlier in the game, came up with a clutch two-run single in the seventh and Isabella Sawyers shut the door to preserve the win. Sawyers threw a complete game, allowing three runs on five hits with three strikeouts.

GAME TWO – CBC 4, BETHEL 3

The Mustangs jumped the Wildcats quickly in game two, taking a 2-0 lead in the first on a Kinley Johnson double and an Eden East single. Bethel would tie the game in the second and the score stayed that way until the sixth when Kori Truelove put CBC back in front with a two-run single to make it 4-2. Bethel would get a run in the bottom of the sixth, but Lauren Woodard retired the side on just eight pitches in the seventh for the win. Woodard went the distance, allowing three runs on seven hits with a pair of Ks.
