#MustangsWin! Offense Pushes Mustangs Past Scots!

            Batesville, Ark. – Renewing a rivalry against a former American Midwest Conference team, Central Baptist College softball was at House Field today for a doubleheader against the Lyon Scots. CBC (13-13) dominated the doubleheader, scoring 34 runs in 17-0 and 17-1 victories over LC (3-13).

GAME ONE – CBC 17, LYON 0 (FIVE INNINGS)

            Neither team scored in the first and CBC finally broke through in the second, plating six runs on a Casi Saunders single and an error, a Taylyn Shuffield double, a Karlee Broadway single, a wild pitch and a double by Kori Truelove to make it 6-0 after two. Another Truelove double cleared the bases in the third and made it 9-0 before CBC capped the scoring with eight runs in the fourth. Shuffield drew a bases loaded walk, Taviah Bradley doubled home two, Shuffield scored on an error followed by the fifth RBI and third double of the game for Truelove and finally a bases clearing double by Dakota Hobson. Ryleigh Keele earned her sixth win with three innings of three-hit ball with four Ks. Kayla O'Kelley finished the game with two innings of two-hit ball with one K.

GAME TWO – CBC 17, LYON 1 (FIVE INNINGS)

            CBC was able to jump on Lyon early in game two, scoring twice in the first inning on a wild pitch and a sac fly off the bat of Elizabeth Stoufer. Lyon made it 2-1 in the second before CBC tacked on three in the third on two errors, making it 5-1 after three. The Mustangs added six runs in the fourth on a Kinley Johnson home run, her second of the season, a Sydney Weiser single, a passed ball, an error, a single by Broadway and a bases loaded walk to Johnson to make it 11-1 after four. The final six runs crossed the plate in the fifth on a single by Broadway, a two-run single by Truelove and Johnson's second home run of the contest, a three-run shot. The homer was the 30th of her career and made her one of just eight players in program history with 30 dingers. Isabella Sawyers went the distance, allowing a run on four hits with seven strikeouts for her fifth win of the season.

UP NEXT

            The Mustangs begin a six-game homestand on Tuesday when they host a doubleheader against Wiley College. First pitch from City of Colleges Park is scheduled for 2 p.m.
