Conway, Ark. – Playing an American Midwest Conference opponent for the first time this season, Central Baptist College softball hosted the Williams Baptist Eagles this afternoon at City of Colleges Park. CBC (14-14, 1-1 AMC) split with WBU (19-9, 3-1 AMC), winning game one 4-3 before dropping game two 2-0.
GAME ONE – CBC 4, WBU 3
A pitcher's dual between Emberlin Caldwell and Ryleigh Keele was the story of game one. Keele was the first to crack, allowing three runs in the fourth to give WBU a 4-0 lead after four. Keele's offense picked her up in the fifth, putting up four runs to take a 4-3 lead. Taylyn Shuffield brought in the first run with a double to right center before Eden East tied the game with a two-run triple. Kinley Johnson's fielder's choice brought home the final run and Keele coaxed a double play with the tying run on first in the seventh inning and ended the game with a groundout, earning win number five with a complete game, allowing seven hits while striking out five.
GAME TWO – WBU 2, CBC 0
CBC only had three hits in game two off the bats of Taviah Bradley, East and Elizabeth Stoufer. Both of the Eagles runs came in the third and the Mustangs spoiled a great relief outing from Lauren Woodard, who allowed three hits and struck out two in four-and-one-third innings.
UP NEXT
CBC returns to City of Colleges Park tomorrow for another conference doubleheader, this time against Crowley's Ridge. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
