Conway, Ark. - Following a split in their American Midwest Conference opening doubleheader yesterday, Central Baptist College softball hosted the Crowley's Ridge Pioneers this afternoon at City of Colleges Park. CBC (16-14, 3-1 AMC) swept CRC (0-28, 0-4 AMC) by scores of 3-2 and 10-1.
GAME ONE - CBC 3, CRC 2
CBC got on the scoreboard in the first inning on an error, followed by another error in the second to make it 2-0 and a third run-scoring error in the third to make it 3-0. Crowley's Ridge got single runs in both the fourth and fifth innings, but Ryleigh Keele locked down the Pioneers, retiring the side in order in both the sixth and seventh innings for her sixth win, striking out five and allowing just one earned run in her complete game.
GAME TWO - CBC 10, CRC 1 (FIVE INNINGS)
CBC wasted no time scoring again in game two as Kinley Johnson plated a run with a single. The Mustangs would push four runs across the plate in the second inning on two-run singles by Taylyn Shuffield and Kori Truelove for a 5-0 lead after two innings. A Casi Saunders triple in the third stretched the lead to 6-0 before CBC put the game away with four in the fourth on a sac fly by Eden East, a single by Johnson, a double by starting pitcher Lauren Woodard and a sac fly by Saunders. CRC got a run in the fifth but couldn't push another run across to end the game early. Woodard earned her first career win, shutting out the Pioneers on three hits with five Ks in four innings.
