Conway, Ark. – Playing for the final time in 2022, Central Baptist College women's basketball hosted the Owls of William Woods University this afternoon in an American Midwest Conference game inside A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse. CBC (7-4, 2-4 AMC trailed 27-21 at halftime, but came back to defeat WWU (3-8, 1-4 AMC) 62-60 in overtime.

Three Lady Mustangs, Olivia Lambrigtsen, Diana Rivera and Lydia York, finished in double figures scoring while Lambrigtsen finished a rebound shy of a double-double. The lead swapped hands five times with CBC only leading in the first quarter and in overtime.

GAME FLOW

The teams would start out by trading threes before a layup from Tamara Christmas gave CBC a 5-3 advantage in the first quarter. An old fashioned three-point play returned the lead to WWU at 6-5 before a jumper from Rivera made it 7-6 with 4:49 left. That would be the last point CBC would score in the quarter as WWU closed on a 7-0 run to lead 13-7 after one and 27-21 at the half.

The Owls would stretch the lead to eight early in the third quarter before CBC went on an 8-2 run to make the deficit 31-29 with 7:33 left in the quarter. The Lady Mustangs would chip away after WWU stretched the lead again and the game went into the fourth quarter with CBC trailing 40-37. WWU got a three at the 8:38 mark of the fourth quarter to stretch the lead to 43-37 before a jumper from Rhys Anderson made it 43-39 with 8:04 left. The Owls went on a mini 5-0 run following that and led 48-39 with 5:06 left to play. From there, CBC closed strong, finishing the fourth quarter on a 10-1 run capped by a layup from Lambrigtsen with eight seconds left to knot the score at 49 and send the game into overtime.

In the extra period, Woods hit back-to-back threes sandwiched around an Anderson layup and led 55-51 with 3:37 left. The Lady Mustangs continued to fight, however, chipping the lead down to one thanks to a three from Anderson to make it 55-54 with 3:24 left. The Owls would go on a mini 5-1 run over the next 1:24 and CBC trailed 60-55 with 2:00 left. Rivera would convert a three-point play with 1:38 left to make it 60-58 and she followed that with a free throw to make it 60-59 with 44 seconds left. Following a miss by WWU, Caroline Citty grabbed the rebound and got fouled going to the basket and put CBC ahead 61-60 with a pair of free throws with 13 seconds left. On the ensuing possession, Lambrigtsen forced a steal and cleared the ball to Anderson, who split her free throws with four seconds left to give CBC a 62-60 lead. CBC would lock down defensively on the final play and the Owls were unable to get a shot off to give CBC their fourth win in a row.
