Erik Holth, CBC Sports Information Director

Chesterfield, Mo. – Having earned the #5 seed in the American Midwest Conference Volleyball Championship, Central Baptist College took on the Mission Patriots in the quarterfinal round. After making history by beating Mission (15-18) in four sets (by scores of 27-25, 19-25, 25-23 and 25-14) for their first win ever in the AMC tournament, CBC (10-24) saw their season come to an end in the semifinals, as they fell to top-seed Columbia (21-14) in straight sets by scores of 8-25, 16-25, and 20-25.

The tournament ended the decorated career of Madeline Freeman, who will be recognized further with graphics and a season recap next week. CBC's 34 matches were also the most that they had played in six seasons.

QUARTERFINALS – CBC 3, MISSION 1

Looking to avenge a regular season sweep by the Patriots, CBC used every facet of their game to earn their first win ever in the AMC tournament. Freeman posted the final triple-double of her career with a team-leading 18 kills, a team-high 20 assists and 10 digs while also hitting .348. Aubree Ruggles had 10 kills and hit .222 while Rayssa Maldonado also had double figures in assists with 11 and Ava White posted 17 digs with Avary Smith making 14 digs.

SEMIFINALS – COLUMBIA 3, CBC 0

Carrying momentum into the semifinal match, CBC looked to upset the top seed and play for a title tomorrow. Columbia proved to be too much, as the only double figure categories were both in digs as White led with 13 and Freeman had 12.
