North Little Rock, Ark. – Continuing their current 12-game homestand, Central Baptist College baseball hosted the Philander Smith Panthers today in a doubleheader at DeSalvo Memorial Stadium. CBC (7-5) swept PSU (2-4) winning game one 6-2 before finishing off the sweep 5-3 in unique fashion in game two.

GAME ONE – CBC 6, PHILANDER SMITH 2

CBC started the scoring early in game one on a Brayden Mayencourt double to make it 1-0 in the second inning. PSU tied the game in the third on an error and then took the lead on a pickoff and steal of home in the fifth. The Mustangs answered in the bottom of the fifth to retake the lead as Will Thompson drove in a run on a groundout followed by a passed ball and their own steal of home by Aaron Prince to make it 4-2 after five. The Mustangs tacked on two more runs in the sixth on a single by Thompson and an error. Six runs were plenty for Dylan Parton, who threw a complete game in 98 pitches, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits with seven Ks for his third win of the season.

GAME TWO – CBC 5, PHILANDER SMITH 3

Game two was a different story from game one as Philander Smith outhit the Mustangs 9-2. PSU took  a 2-0 lead in the second inning before CBC took a 3-2 lead in the fourth inning on a fielder's choice off the bat of Jeremy Franco and an error on the same play that cleared the bases. Two more runs came in the fifth without the benefit of a hit as Preston White stole home to make it 4-2 and Carter Harris scored later on a wild pitch. PSU's final run came in the sixth. White had both of CBC's hits: a single leading off the fifth and another single in the sixth. Ethan Reisdorfer picked up his first win as a Mustang, throwing four innings and allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits with four Ks while Danny Maxwell earned his first career save, throwing the final three innings, allowing a run on three hits with a pair of strikeouts.
