#MustangsWin! CBC Opens Dallas Christian Series With Doubleheader Sweep!

Erik Holth, CBC Sports Information Director

North Little Rock, Ark. – Playing their 10th straight game at home in this afternoon's doubleheader, Central Baptist College baseball hosted the Dallas Christian College Crusaders today at DeJanis Memorial Field. CBC (9-7) swept DCC (4-8), scoring 18 runs combined in 9-3 and 9-6 wins.

GAME ONE – CBC 9, DCC 3

CBC started the scoring in the third inning on a Cesar Franco single to make it 1-0. The Mustangs really put the game away in the fifth, plating six runs on a two-run single by Ryan Dauphinee, a single by Brayden Mayencourt, a sac fly by Aaron Prince a steal and an error and a successful double steal pulled off by Carter Harris and George Astacio to give CBC a 7-0 lead after five innings. DCC would push three across in the sixth, but when Mayencourt singled home two more runs in the sixth, that was all that Aiden Jones needed. Jones threw his second straight complete game, this time on 76 pitches, to earn win number two, allowing just eight hits and three runs with a pair of strikeouts.

GAME TWO – CBC 9, DCC 6

The Mustangs wasted no time scoring in game two, pushing four runs across the plate in the first inning thanks to a two-run double by Mayencourt, a sac fly by Danilo Taborda and a single by Prince to take a 4-0 lead after one. DCC scored their first run in the second to cut the lead to 4-1 before a Franco sac fly pushed the lead back to four runs after two innings. CBC extended the lead to 7-1 in the third after a fielder's choice and a bases loaded walk to Preston White. The Crusaders then plated four runs in the fourth inning to make it 7-5. A Cameron Harden steal of home plate in the fifth stretched the lead back to 8-5 before DCC scored their final run in the sixth. The third sac fly of the game, this time by Carter Harris, brought home the final run and secured the day one sweep. Franklin Sosa started on the mound and threw one inning, allowing one run on three walks with a strikeout. Eric de Jesus earned the win, throwing two-and-two-thirds innings and allowing four runs on six hits with a pair of walks and a pair of strikeouts. Jamin Smith earned his second save, throwing the final three-and-one-third innings, allowing just three hits and one run with three Ks.
