North Little Rock, Ark. – Playing at home on the final weekend before the start of American Midwest Conference play, Central Baptist College baseball hosted the Calvary Warriors today at DeSalvo Memorial Field. CBC (11-10) swept the double header, scoring 20 runs in 10-4 and 10-2 wins over CU (0-8).
GAME ONE – CBC 10, CALVARY 4
CBC took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by George Astacio. The one-run lead held until the fourth inning when the Mustangs blew the game open by scoring seven runs thanks to a single by Aaron Prince, a bases loaded walk to Danilo Taborda, a grand slam by Preston White (his second home run of the season) and a single by Brayden Mayencourt. The final two runs for the Mustangs scored in the sixth on a Mayencourt sac fly and a wild pitch that scored Astacio. Aiden Jones, who picked up this third win and third complete game, cruised through six innings and allowed all four runs in the seventh inning surrendering five his with six Ks in his outing.
GAME TWO – CBC 10, CALVARY 2
Calvary grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first before CBC combined to score all 10 of their runs in the next two innings with six in the first and four in the second. Mayencourt brought home the first run with a single to tie the game and back-to-back sac flies by Cody Kennon and Garrett Fitts followed to make it 3-1 before a single by Prince and a two-run double by Cade Collins made it 6-1 after one. In the second, Prince launched the second grand slam of the day for the Mustangs, a no doubter to center field, for his second home run of the season to make it 10-1 and back Dylan Parton, who earned his fourth win. Parton went six innings and allowed two runs on five hits with seven Ks while Jordan Tharp pitched a scoreless seventh, striking out two.
