#MustangsWin! CBC Sweeps Series From Hannibal!
Erik Holth, CBC Sports Information Director
Hannibal, Mo. – Looking for their first American Midwest Conference series sweep of the season, Central Baptist College baseball looked for a repeat of yesterday's historic game two performance at Nichols Field against Hannibal-LaGrange. CBC (22-14, 7-2 AMC) completed the sweep, jumping up early on HLGU (6-17, 1-8 AMC) before run-ruling the Trojans again, this time 12-2 in seven innings.
CBC scored three runs in the top half of the first inning on Ryan Dauphinee's fourth double of the weekend, making it 1-0 and putting Dauphinee into elite company as only the 13th player in program history to drive in 100 runs in their career. The final two runs of the inning came home on a Cesar Franco single. After not scoring in either the second or third innings, Josh Lumsden's fourth inning sac fly made it 4-0 before Hannibal's two-run bottom half cut the lead to 4-2. The Mustangs would break the game open in the fifth, scoring five runs courtesy of a single by Danilo Taborda, a hit by pitch to Franco, a two-run single by Aaron Prince and a single by Lumsden. CBC put the run rule into effect in the seventh thanks to a two-run single by Dauphinee and a single by Preston White. Dylan Parton earned his seventh win of the season, allowing just four hits and two runs in six innings while striking out six. Ryan Meyer pitched the seventh and allowed nothing besides a pair of walks.
CBC returns home next weekend for another American Midwest Conference series, this time against the Mission Patriots. First pitch from DeJanis Memorial Field on Friday is scheduled for 2 p.m.
